PHS lost to Myrtle Beach Saturday, November 4. The Lady Flame Volleyball Team was seeking it’s 16th title but MB, in search of their first title, had other plans. They defeated PHS 3-1, (25-13, 18-25, 25-16, 25-18.)
Thank you to the PHS administration, faculty, students, families, and everyone around our community for the support you gave the Lady Blue Flame all season. It’s so great to see the support for PHS and their Lady Flame Volleyball program.
Thank you AD, coaches, managers and players for providing another great year of PHS Volleyball. Each and every time you walk in that awesome gymnasium, look up at the 15 banners of state champions and the banner with 19 Upper State titles. Then walk out of that gymnasium with your heads held high, knowing that you or your child, your grandchild or your friend were a part of PHS history! What an honor to play this game in that gym at that school! What an experience! It’s been a “Great Blue Flame Year!”
“For those who will return in 2018, think of what you can do to be a successful person but more so, to be a successful teammate. Success is committing to things with all of your heart. It is about giving of yourself so completely that you are willing to face the despair that comes when that thing is taken away. Wins and losses are fleeting, but the words that describe playing a simple game and being part of a team are forever.
These words are teammwork, discipline, unselfishness, effort, tenacity, fairness, honor, faith, enthusiasm, intelligence, determination, self belief, pride, sportsmanship, energy, sharing, caring, supporting, respecting, being humble, having courage, leading, listening, learning, creating, and ultimately BEING A GREAT TEAMMATE.
These are the words that determine success on the court and in life. These are the words that create more than a winning team. They create players with character. Volleyball will end, for most, after college. But the life lessons learned through this sport will carry all through life.”
