Multiple Teams · Blue Flame Cross Country at the Region Championships

Last night, the Pickens Blue Flame Cross Country teams competed in their final regular season meet for the Region Championships at Travelers Rest High School. In the Girls’ varsity race, Senior Amber Saitta finished “Region Runner-Up” with a time of 20:22 and a 2nd place overall finish. 7th grader Grace Newman also earned a spot on the “All-Region” team with a time of 21:10 and a 4th place overall finish. 8th grader Campbell Sherwood, 9th grader Juiliana Hernandez, and Senior Angel Howell rounded out the top 5 scores for the Lady Blue Flame.


In the Boys’ varsity race, the Blue Flame were led by Senior Dylan Bray who finished 12th place overall with a time of 18:14. 7th grader Chase Ashe ran his personal best time of the season with an 18:52 and a 14th place overall finish. Senior Jackson Masters, 9th grader Landon Howell, and 7th grader Adam Ellis rounded out the top 5 scores for the Blue Flame.


After the race Coach Furr stated, “We knew coming into the Region Meet tonight that Travelers Rest had a very difficult course. Our kids ran really hard and for that I am extremely proud.”


The Blue Flame now wait until Sunday to see if they earned a spot in the State Qualifier Meet next Friday morning in Chapin, South Carolina.
