Multiple Teams · Saitta and Newman Finish 1-2 at Wren Cross Country Meet


Last night, the Blue Flame Cross Country teams ran their final race of the regular season before their Region Meet next Wednesday at Travelers Rest. In the Girls’ Varsity race, Senior Amber Saitta was the overall winner with a finishing time of 19:55. 7th grader Grace Newman placed 2nd overall behind Saitta with a finishing time of 20:40. Freshman Juiliana Hernandez ran her personal best time with a 23:15 finish, 8th grader Campbell Sherwood ran her personal best time with a 24:15 finish, and Senior Angel Howell rounded out the Lady Blue Flame scoring with a time of 24:39. After their race, Coach Furr stated, “Incredible performance by the Lady Blue Flame tonight. I have been really challenging these girls in practice over the past week to run their best team race of the season, and the results speak for themselves.”

In the Boys’ Varsity race, Senior Dylan Bray led the Blue Flame runners with a time of 17:48 and a 9th place overall finish. Senior Jackson Masters and 7th grader Chase Ashe also ran their personal best times with a finish of 18:33 and 18:57 respectively. After their race, Coach Furr stated, “Heading into Region next week we wanted our kids to really set the tone of how to run a complete race before next Wednesday. Tonight, many of our runners did just that.”¬†Shoutout to 7th grader Adam Ellis who finished 2nd overall in the JV race with a personal best time of 19:27.

The Blue Flame Cross Country teams are off until next Wednesday when they travel to Travelers Rest for their Region meet.
