Wren boys and girls win Pre-Region Relays track meet at Wren

The Wren High School boys and girls track teams took first-place honors among six area teams taking part March 10 in the Pre-Region Relays track meet held at Wren.
The order of finish among the six girls’ teams was: 1) Wren; 2) Palmetto; 3) Daniel; 4) Walhalla; 5) Pickens; and 6) Belton-Honea Path. For the boys, the order among the teams was: 1) Wren; 2) Walhalla; 3) Palmetto; 4) Belton-Honea Path; 5) Daniel; and 6) Pickens.
Pickens High School (PHS) Girls Head Track and Field Coach Daniel Furr was enthusiastic about the results.
“We have a very young, athletic, and hard-working group of Lady Blue Flame out for track and field this season,” Furr said. “Our saying is very simple right now: ‘Do better than you did last meet!’ The girls have really taken this saying to heart, and it was evident today at Wren.”
In the Girls 4×200 Relay, PHS finished in 1st place with the four-person team of Ivy Freeman, Kinsley Fulmer, Aaliyah Martin and Hannah Campbell.
In the Girls 4×400 Relay, PHS finished in 2nd place with the four-person team of Kristen Smith, Amber Saitta, Hannah Campbell and Ivy Freeman.
In the Girls 4×800 Relay, PHS finished in 3rd place with the four-person team of Maddalena Bernadelli, Amber Saitta, Ivy Freeman, and Hannah Campbell.
In the field events for the Lady Blue Flame, Alex Dow finished 4th in the Shot Put, Caroline Lucas was 5th in the High Jump, Kristen Smith finished 6th in Girls Long Jump and Amelia Heichel was 6th in Girls Triple Jump.
In the Boys 4×800 Relay, PHS finished in 3rd place with the four-person team of Levi Shelton, Caleb Ridgeway, Noah Constance and Dylan Bray.
In the Boys 4×110 Shuttle Hurdle, PHS finished in 2nd place with the four-person team of Caleb Ridgeway, Gabriel Dillingham, Keaton Moore and Cedrix Scott.
In field events for the PHS boys, Gabriel Dillingham finished in 4th place in Boys High Jump and 4th place for Boys Discus Throw. In Boys Shot Put, Brennan Perkins was 5th and Jackson Crumpton was 7th. Caleb Owens finished in 7th place in Boys Long Jump.
The date of the next track meet for Pickens High School is undetermined, as all spring sports are postponed until further notice.
