Multiple Teams · Blue Flame Cross Country Compete at the Greenwave Invitational


On Saturday morning, October 12th, the Blue Flame Cross Country teams competed in the GreenWave Invitational at Easley High School. In the girls’ race Amber Saitta paced the Lady Blue Flame with a top 5 finish in the race and a time of 23:18. 7th grader Campbell Sherwood, Sophomore Holly Newman, 8th grader Juiliana Hernandez, and Junior Kristen Smith rounded out the Lady Blue Flame scoring.  The Lady Blue Flame placed 4th overall in the race as a team.  After the race, Coach Furr said, “Easley is one of the toughest cross country courses in our area so it is a challenging race, but our girls and boys are up to the challenge.” In the boys’ race, Dylan Bray paced the Blue Flame runners with a 7th place overall finish and a time of 18:23.  Junior Levi Shelton, Senior Gabe Dillingham, Freshman Matthew Mitchell, and Sophomore Clayton Payne rounded out the Blue Flame scoring and all of these runners placed in the top 25 overall for the race while finishing 3rd in the race as a team overall.  After the race, Coach Furr said, “I am really proud of our guys and all of their effort today.”
