Blue Flame News · Mansfield Hired to be the Blue Flame Wrestling Coach


Pickens High School Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Sean Mansfield as the Head Wrestling Coach.  Coach Mansfield began coaching in 2001 as an assistant at Sebring High School in Florida.  He served as the head coach at Sebring from 2005-2008 where they recorded 5 individual state champions.  Upon relocating to South Carolina, Coach Mansfield served as an assistant wrestling coach at Belton Honea Path High School from 2009-2013 where their team won the state championship in 2012.  In 2013 Coach Mansfield accepted the Head Wrestling Coach position at Southwest Florida Wrestling Academy.  He also served as the South Carolina USA Greco Roman Wrestling Coach from 2015-2017.

 

Coach Mansfield began competitive wrestling in 1978 at the Wayland Area Wrestling Club in Wayland, NY.  He wrestled at Wayland Central High School (NY) where he was a two time county champion, a Section V Placer and New York State Qualifier.  Upon graduation Coach Mansfield joined the US Army where he had the honor of wrestling on the All-Army wrestling team from 1995-1996 as a Greco-Roman Wrestler.

 

Pickens High School will host a wrestler/parent meeting Monday October 1st at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria to introduce Coach Mansfield and to let him explain his expectations for the 2018-2019 wrestling season and the future of Blue Flame Wrestling.
