Pickens High School is excited to announce Rikki Owens as their new Head Girls Basketball Coach. Coach Owens has a passion for women’s athletics and young people. Currently, Coach Owens teaches special education at Pickens Middle School. Coach Owens is an Easley High School honor graduate where she lettered in volleyball, basketball, and softball. In basketball Owens starred as a four year letterman under Hall of Fame Coach Steve Beasley. Coach Owens took the reins of the Pickens High School Volleyball Program last season. In her first season as head coach she led the Lady Blue Flame to an Upperstate Championship and an appearance in the AAAA State Title Game. In addition to coaching Lady Blue Flame Volleyball, Coach Owens also served as the Pickens Middle School Girls Basketball Coach. PHS Athletic Director Chad Smith says “Rikki has a passion for women’s sports. She is a fantastic Ball Coach that makes everyone around her better. She truly fulfills our PHS athletic motto which is “As Iron Sharpens Iron, So One Man Sharpens Another”. I am very excited about Rikki’s vision for our basketball program here at PHS as well as her vision for Women’s Athletics overall.” Coach Owens is replacing Coach Butch Morris as he has been promoted to Assistant Principal at Pickens Middle School. There will be a player & parent meeting on Thursday, March 29th, at 6:00 in the PHS Cafeteria to meet Coach Owens.
